Shooting at a corner

author

Anish Kapoor

description

The Royal Academy of Arts, London, the UK.

The installation is a pneumatic gun specially designed for this work, which shoots with balls of wax and red paint instead of bullets. Hitting the white wall, the balls burst, and the paint flows unevenly to the floor, forming a puddle that resembles blood and flesh. This quite unpleasant image causes thoughts of violence, war and slaughter, where they cut the meat of animals. Unlike the brilliant metal works of Anish Kapoor that contribute to a peaceful mood and meditation, this installation causes a feeling of alarm and overt aggression.
