Briefly about the painting:

The elephants in the painting by Dominguez only vaguely resemble real animals. They do not have the usual big ears and eyes, so they resemble rather strange living machines, frozen on the battlefield. Their exorbitantly elongated trunks are spread over the ground like hoses, and broken tusks are evidence of a recent battle. Even though nothing is happening in the picture, its atmosphere is strained to the limit, and it seems that these gigantic live killer machines, lined up opposite each other, are about to rush into battle again. Without a doubt, the work reflects the fear and anxiety that spread throughout Europe before the start of World War II.
