Victor Palmov

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The private collection of I. S. Dychenko (Ukraine).

Palmov painted this picture in his favorite contrasting colours – many shades of very hot red and deep blue. The frontal composition represents several figures depicted in a generalized manner but in compliance with the basic proportions. A distinctive rhythm is given to the plot by a clear blue shadow outline surrounding a woman standing with one foot in the water. Following his theory of colourization, the artist depicted people sitting on the shore in a light shade with pastel colours – transparent blue and pale pink, used ocher tones to indicate figures that melt in the hot haze of air and sun in the background.
