Joan Miró i Ferrà

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The National Gallery of Art (Washington, the USA).

The painting depicts Miro’s family country house in the village of Mont Roig del Camp. A complex “multi-level” composition is considered one of the best works of the artist of his realistic period. It is a detailed description of Catalan everyday life and is full of many objects, each of which has a certain symbolic meaning. Each viewer understands the meaning of the work, at the same time simple, naive, mystical and mysterious, differently. The canvas was purchased by famous writer Ernest Hemingway, who was one of Miro’s first fans.
