description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: private collection.

Miro’s early works bear the mark of his fascination with Fauvism and Post-Impressionism of Cezanne. The still life is made in an emancipated and vibrant manner, where objects on the table are stylized, the perspective is distorted, and the colours are fauvistically vibrant and immediate. The picture contains the individual features of the artist – a large number of equivalent objects, their symbolism, and lack of compositional center and special rhythm of the image. Among everyday objects, such as a vase with flowers and a book, a strange object with an antenna, similar to a caterpillar or a microorganism enlarged many times, attracts attention. This item can be called a prototype of various obscure creatures that constantly appeared in the works of Miro.
