description

Mediums: вronze.
Location: The Tate Gallery (London, UK).

The theme of family and motherhood, which Moore was interested in from the very beginning of his career, became the main one in the post-war work of the artist. One of the best works of this subject is rightfully considered to be a composition of three seated figures: father, mother and a small child, whom they hold in their hands. The hands of parents supporting the child are intertwined in such a way that they create a kind of knot, indicating the unity and close connection between these people. The composition, cast in bronze, was made for the Barclay school in Stephenage and was installed in front of its entrance, where it is still located.
