The Trinity. March

author

Konstantin Yuon

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg (Russia).

The town, according to Yuon, “slightly resembling a toy”, is so colourful, clean and attractive to the artist that he lived there for a long time. Just like a child, the artist admired the clear red towers that contrast with the green roofs, painted pink churches, gold and blue domes. The combination of colours does not need to be invented – it is so festive in real. The artist created several versions of the painting named “The Trinity” – we see parishioners on foot, riding in carts or sleighs. The master’s favourite architectural landscapes, dense in colour and clear in composition, give an idea of the spiritual and historical base of the people.
