The Blue Bush

author

Konstantin Yuon

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow (Russia).

The work invariably evokes positive emotions in the audience – the depicted shredded bushes (or, perhaps, those are young trees on the slope of the ravine) are authentic due to their unusual colour. After all, hot noon warms up the air so much; the streams of moisture rise from the ground so intensely that the blue sky (and water from it) can transform the greenery so much that it will turn blue. The artist might exaggerate the effect to create an image, but not much. A technique not typical of Yuon, who was striving for realism, makes his painting special.
