description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhague (Denmark).

Briefly about the painting:

The title of this work contains its tragic meaning: the image does not look like the family idyll. The general pink background hardly hints at the “rose-colored glasses”, since the members of the family are vividly separate from each other. All characters have a melancholic look: a lady with a tray in the foreground, relatives leaving for the horizon, and a naked man on the roof of the strange structure in the middle ground. In the depths of the surrealistic landscape, you can see a small figure of a man in military uniform. Perhaps, he is the one who is responsible for the disasters of the depicted family.
