The street enters the house

author

Umberto Boccioni

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Museum of the Land of Lower Saxony (Hanover, Germany).

This is one of the most famous works of the artist demonstrating life in modern society. Opening a window that looks out onto the street, a woman lets in the noise and dust of the road, where people and cars flicker like in a whirlpool and houses randomly pile up on each other. Space and movement are conveyed in the picture with amazing accuracy and reliability, which is a distinctive feature of the author’s style. In one image, Boccioni managed to convey the whole gamut of visual and emotional sensations of a person located in the center of a noisy city, penetrating everywhere.
