The Seventh dimension. Suprematic relief

author

Ilya Chashnik

description

Mediums: wood, cardboard, ink.
Location: the private collection of James Butterwick (the UK).

The painting, which was sold for $ 3 million in 2016, refers to the original (Vitebsk) period of Ilya Chashnik’s creative career, when he was still a student. He considered himself a complete supporter of Malewicz – for him Suprematism was not just an art movement, but an embodiment of revolutionary changes in painting. The composition does not have the usual squares, crosses and circles – the author sought the dynamism of linear geometry and was in search of harmonious color solutions.
