The power of curved lines

author

Tullio Crali

description

Mediums: oil, cardboard.
Location: the Museum of Modern Art of Trento and Rovereto (Italy).

Crali’s work is a colourful visualization of speed, masterfully expressed in the language of painting. Joining Futurists in the second phase of the development of Futurism, the artist did not use the method of decomposing the movement into separate phases but transmitted it using smooth dynamic lines. Creating distinctive and flexible contours, Crali impressively conveyed the energy and dynamics of a fast-moving car, emphasizing its speed with bright red-white colours against a contrasting dark background. The artist expressed his admiration for the power and limitless possibilities of modern technology in this picture, using fairly simple and understandable expressive means.
