Rising Forms (Rising Forces)

author

Gerardo Dottori

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The collection of the commune of Perugia (Italy).

The unusual spatial perspective, a sense of flight or just soaring in the air, and geometrically simplified shapes of objects characterize the picture as one of the brightest examples of aerial painting. Together with F. Marinetti and other Futurists, Dotorri began working in this style in the early 1930s and became one of the most prominent representatives of “air painting” in art. The artist’s works do not have any images of planes, their elements or military scenes where airplanes are presented as dangerous murder weapons. In the paintings of Dottori, we see only peaceful landscapes, the enjoyment of flight and the natural power of the Earth.
