The Dead Loop

author

Tullio Crali

description

Mediums: oil, plywood,
Location: The Lucy Marinetti Collection (Rome, Italy).

Depicting a dead loop in the air, Crali did not show the plane itself or the person sitting in it. He painted the city in such an incredibly dynamic manner that he was able to immerse the viewer in an upside-down incredible whirlwind of houses, churches and city streets. A subtle understanding of the laws of aerial perspective allows the author to very accurately display the curvature of space and the rapidly advancing city. Many critics note that among all artists working in the style of aero painting, Crali was able to most deeply penetrate the energy and danger of flying and fully express this feeling in his canvases.
