Plunging into urban space

author

Tullio Crali

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Museum of Modern Art of Trento and Rovereto (Italy).

To create the effect of “immersion”, the author chose an unusual angle, placing the viewer in the cockpit. Such a great point of view used by Crali in many works allows not only to see the panorama of the city but also to feel the dizzying speed and adrenaline of flight. The landscape that opens outside the window is densely built-up city blocks, flying at a horrifying speed towards the plane. The perspective in the picture is built in such a way that its collision with the earth seems inevitable, but, despite all the laws of physics, instead of a painful fall, there is a soft interpenetration of the earth and the sky, real and fantastic.
