Isamu Noguchi

description

Mediums: granite.
Location: Seattle, Washington’s Volunteer Park (the USA).

A large granite disk with a round hole in the middle, which symbolizes the Sun, is located on a hill in Washington’s park in Seattle. The monument was installed in such a way that through its opening from different sides you can see interesting objects: Space Needle, Olympic Mountains and Elliott Bay, which are the symbols of the city. According to Isamu Noguchi, sculptural forms do not exist separately from the surrounding reality and become alive only in the imagination of people, finding a path to their dreams, thoughts and emotions. Based on this, he created the composition taking into account what people will see when looking at the sculpture from one or another point of view.
