Energy Void

author

Isamu Noguchi

description

Mediums: granite.
Location: The Isamu Noguchi Foundation (New York, the USA).

The largest work of the series “Void”, which Noguchi created in his Japanese studio on the island of Shikoku. Like in many other works of the author, not only the sculpture itself but also the space between its elements, which is an essential part of the composition as the stone forms, is of great importance. In this abstract sculpture, the author showed his admiration for the laws of physics, according to which energy is in constant cyclic motion, penetrating the surrounding space. With no beginning or end, this energy flows like an endless stream and represents the life force that is present in all living and nonliving objects in the Universe.
