Lucio Fontana

description

Private collection.

Canvas, oil.

The work is large and has a large number of strip-slots on its surface. Symmetrical cuts on white canvas are arranged in two rows – such a composition is rarely found in the works of Lucio Fontana. From afar, the picture resembles sharp teeth that bite into a clean snow-white space. The stages of the process of creating this work were photographed by Harry Schenk in the artist’s studio. These pictures demonstrate the creative method of Lucio Fontana and are important evidence of the transformation of an ordinary flat surface into a three-dimensional visual space.
