description

The Scarsedt Gallery, New York (the USA).

The black and white picture was made using the collage technique. To create it, the artist used several photographs, both taken by him, and pictures taken by his friends. The central figure, a half-naked man, wrapped in fabric, is a photo of the gallery owner and artist Massimo Audiello, depicted in the very distant 1993. In the background, David Salle placed several “Gordons” gin advertising posters, paying tribute to pop art. The work is a part of a series of three works, which are the only completely black and white paintings by the artist.
