description

Mediums: oil on canvas, wooden shelf, objects found.
Location: private collection.

The picture-collage contains several different elements: a portrait of a woman made in warm gray tones, a distorted cartoon image and a toy ship on a wooden shelf located at the top of the canvas. The character at the bottom of the painting is Sailor Moon, the heroine of a popular anime from the 1990s. She appears in several works by the artist from the very beginning of the 21st century. Her striped collar evokes associations with marine uniforms, and her highlighted “cartoon” sexuality contrasts sharply with the refined beauty of a woman from the real world depicted in the center of the composition.
