Sectional House

author

Alisa Iwanowna Poret

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Yaroslavl State Art Museum (Russia).

The canvas was discovered by accident during the systematization of the works of T. Glebova, in collaboration with whom it was created. The picture was cut into pieces (the lower one was lost). The plot is not the artists’ fantasy, but a real house near Sennaya Square with real people. Here, pianist M. Yudina plays music, one of the sisters-artists Alferaki plays castanets, while the other one lies with cats; Filonov raises his hand like a conductor. Lunch in the family circle: this is the family of the sister of T. Glebova. We can see Alisa’s dog and a view of the garden. The canvas, full of life and important for history, was not exhibited until 2003. Now it is defined as something more than a work of art – a guide to the turbulent avant-garde. The painting is actively studied, articles, speeches at conferences are dedicated to it, and even a special museum project was created.
