description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan named after I.V. Savitsky, Nukus (Uzbekistan).

One of the artist’s early works of the period when she was fond of her manner of neo-primitivism following her mentor Petrov-Vodkin and used the techniques of minimalism in painting. The girl is sitting on a low bench in an empty room. Her face resembling a pale mask against the background of a gray, shimmering brush strokes wall is disproportionately large and adult in comparison with her fragile figure and small feet. The viewer can be alarmed and somewhat hypnotized by the model’s look and by her possible attempts to say something.
