Mikhail Menkov

description

This small canvas is an example of Menkov’s follow-up of the new theory of K. Malewicz, which was soon defined as Suprematism. The work was a part of the cycle under the general title “Painting in the Fourth Dimension”, which the artist exhibited at the “Last Futuristic Exhibition 0.10”. The non-objective composition fully corresponds to the credo stated by Menkov about the colour solutions dominating over the form and the need to confirm that colour should “live and speak for itself”. However, scattered letters are also “speaking” in the painting.
