Red Diagonal

description

The Chicago Art Institute, Chicago (the USA).

Canvas, oil.

Like in his earlier works, the artist paid much attention to colours, carefully selecting the necessary shades and their combinations. In “Red Diagonal”, colours create a dynamic composition, thanks to the contrast between the neutral white and the defiant fiery red hue. The arrangement of two rectangular elements creates an unusual optical effect. Carefully examining the picture, the viewer begins to notice that the red rectangle turns into a long strip that extends far beyond the canvas and visually turns into an almost infinite line.
