Port II

author

Gösta Adrian-Nilsson

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: private collection.

The artist created this painting during his summer trip from France to Sweden and is a continuation of the marine theme that always attracted him. The painting is arranged on a geometric diagonal, but the large figure of the sailor in the foreground is depicted vertically. The painting contains both non-figurative elements and clear images related to the life of the port. The viewer identifies buildings, ships, stylized waves, inscriptions and symbols placed into the overall geometric pattern of the canvas.
The small picture was sold at Midsommar auction for almost 41 thousand euros.
