Overcoming gravity

author

Luigi Colombo (Phillia)

description

Mediums: oil, cardboard.
Location: private collection.

A huge red ball, symbolizing the Earth, occupies almost the entire surface of the canvas. The artist depicts it from outer space as if he is on an orbital station that did not exist at that time. The land on the Phillia’s canvas does not cause a feeling of security and tranquility. The flaming red surface seems to be torn apart by an invisible explosion and suggests thoughts of war, and the black pipe in the center emits puffs of smoke. Dark clouds enveloping the globe enhance the anxious mood and make the viewer think about the fate of the planet.
