Nightingale song at midnight and morning rain

author

Joan Miró i Ferrà

description

Mediums: gouache, paper.
Location: The Perls Gallery (New York, the USA).

The Constellation series, to which this painting relates, includes several small works created during the Second World War and united by a common theme and style. Characteristic symbols of the picture – stars, female silhouettes and birds densely fill the picturesque field. Their thin, weightless contours intersect and overlap each other, creating a kind of complex mosaic that resembles a map of the night sky. In these works, Joan Miro fully revealed his vision and demonstrated the richness of his figurative language.
