description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Regional Art Museum. Vereshchagin, Mykolaiv (Ukraine).

The vibrant landscape was created in the style of Van Gogh: there are local spots of pure palette colours, bright and bold contours, as well as the special sinuosity inherent in the paintings of the French genius. It is one of the few easel paintings that survived in two fires; it is frankly optimistic with the presence of a philosophical and romantic theme of the road calling for a turn. Between the colourful mountains, behind the tall, slender trees of the foreground, the sea reflects the cloudless blue sky. To depict this holiday of Abkhazian nature, the artist chose a very high point. Discovering the poetry of nature, the artist changed his style – the colour scheme brightened, and the painting became exquisite.
