Location: The National Museum of Art, Athens (Greece).

The students of famous mathematician Proclus, the builders of Hagia Sophia in the capital of the Byzantine Empire, are depicted in lush Greek robes with the corresponding attributes. Isidore of Miletus was older and more experienced – as a mathematician, he is “armed” with a triangle; Anthemius of Tralles, a highly qualified expert in the field of mechanics, has in his hands a papyrus on which a construction plan (top view) and compasses are guessed. In the background is the Cathedral – not just a Christian temple, but also one of the wonders of architecture. Engonopoulos considered his mission in the art to remind the world, and sometimes to revive stories from history, bringing them to the viewer in new forms.
