I see the whole room, and there is nobody inside

author

Roy Fox Lichtenstein

description

Private collection.

Oil, graphite, canvas.

The work was created under the influence of the famous “Black Square” by Malevich. The canvas created in a comic book technique, which Lichtenstein had already been actively using that time, depicts a man looking into a dark room through a peephole. Looking at the picture, the viewer gets the impression that someone invades his personal inner space like mass culture penetrates the human mind.
