During the blockade

author

Tatyana Glebova

description

Mediums: watercolour, paper.
Location: The State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg (Russia).

The artist was one of those who survived the terrible time of the Great Patriotic War and the blockade of Leningrad. Despite the harsh conditions, Glebova continued to work actively, creating numerous drawings depicting survival in the besieged city. Dark-coloured watercolours convey the atmosphere of a cramped and dark basement in which people wait for the bombing. This and other works were included in the series “Horrors of the war for the civilian population”, which constitute a pictorial chronicle of the terrible war years.
