In parallel with the creation of a series of oil works on high topics, the artist experimented a lot with an air-space perspective, working mainly in pastel. One of these works depicts a city street with multi-storey buildings separated by a busy roadway. In this painting, Pavel Kondratiev used V. Sterligov’s famous cup-dome system, based on a spherical element of shaping. With the help of an original representation of perspective and dynamic colors, the artist managed to achieve a stunning balance of near and far, heaven and earth.
