This landscape and plot painting is one of the hundreds of canvases created by the artist in the surroundings of Ligachev near Moscow, which he loved so much that he built a house in the village and fruitfully worked there from 1908 to the last year of his life. The author’s idea is reflected in the title, and the main character of the picture is the magnificent Yuon’s sky with a live mass of clouds of various shapes. The artist did not restrain his brush, allowing it to “wander” around the canvas when he was depicting cloudy dogs and roosters that seem to melt or transform into other animals. Yellow stover occupies a smaller area making up an amazing colour harmony. As always, the signs of the presence of people transmit the habitability of the land. Those are two wagons and the roof of a house hidden behind a hill.
