description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The National Museum of Fine Arts. Reina Sofia, Madrid (Spain).

Briefly about the painting:

Two characters facing the audience are depicted with huge hands and legs, because the artist wanted them to look like plants. The hands of the naked boy and a girl dressed in a simple blue dress, according to the author, are a continuation of the branches and the flower. Male nude led to a scandal in provincial Valladolid. The artist was involved in the proceedings due to the fact that naked young men posed for this and other paintings. Her family had to sent the woman to a special sanatorium due to a nervous breakdown.
