It is difficult to find an Expressionist, Cubist or Futurist, who never painted any actors. Gosta was no exception, especially since he loved the circus and worked for ballet. He painted this composition with two acrobats in Stockholm, and then repeated the plot in Paris, profoundly changing not the vertical construction itself, but the colouristic solutions of the work. The capital of France impressed the Swede with its abundance of colours, and the plot, made in a Cubo-futuristic manner, became brighter. This happened not only due to the urban colourful background but also due to the costumes of the acrobats (in the first version of the painting, they were light).
