A lover of an engineer

author

Carlo Carrà

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The collection of Mattioli (Milan, Italy).

One of the last works of the artist in the genre of metaphysical painting. The sculptural female head in the center of the picture with a strangely long neck is surrounded by an aura of mystery and silence. It causes vague subconscious images inspired by dreams or secret thoughts that are difficult to formulate and even more so to produce aloud. The canvas is full of tension and understatement, and the frozen stillness of objects causes a feeling of the complete absence of space and time in this work. Also intriguing is the name of the picture, to which the author did not give any explanation, leaving room for the imagination of the viewer.
