description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: the Yerevan Museum of Russian Art (the collection of A. Abrahamyan). (Armenia).

The artist created this painting in Paris, from where he wrote to his wife in Odessa, “My window looks onto a glade, and it is open.” In the painting, we can see a view of the city, but the main “character” is a strong green plant in a brick-red pot on the windowsill. Keeping a clear figurativeness and even realism in the image of a tree without leaves, the artist is close to expressionism in colour and several distorted proportions of distant objects – roofs with pipes and a multi-storey building.
