author

Alexander Bogomazov

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The National Museum of Art, Kiev (Ukraine).

The top view frequently used by the artist allows you to see the courtyard of a massive stone building. Bogomazov appealed to the viewer, who could see the flow of life even in a static image. It is there, inside, behind the thick and gloomy walls that let little light in. There is no freedom – and this is emphasized by the measured steps of the sentry, whose figure stands out clearly on the small white fragment of the wall.
