description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg (Russia).

Among the paintings created in a futuristic manner, this work stands out with its extremely harmonious colour. The harpist and violinist in ordinary and far from festive gray clothes are surrounded by a space full of warm music – calm ocher shades of the background perfectly convey this feeling. The author depicts movement only in the area of the hands (it is impossible to see the hands and fingers because they have turned into ovals and blurry spots), while the figures of the old man and the girl are quite static. Street virtuosos perform the melody with inspiration, not noticing the everyday routine surrounding them. The artist depicted the sounds as large translucent waves and smaller curls thickening in the distance near the wall of the house, as well as flying through the roofs, like smoke.
