author

Alexander Calder

description

Mediums: stainless steel plates and bolts.
Location: Montreal (Canada).

In the late period of his career, Calder created many monumental stables, which are located in various cities around the world. The sculpture “Man” was commissioned for an exhibition in Montreal and became one of the most ambitious creations of the artist. It consists of several intersecting arches and dynamic planes, which take different forms from different points of view. The statue stands on the island and is visible from all sides, which contributes to the spread of modern art.
