Adam and Eve

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The State Tretyakov Gallery (Russia).

The painting full of symbolism has the decorativeness of modern and the flexible rhythm of painting. The composition is not only multi-figured, but also multi-faceted with features of cubist and grotesque techniques in the spirit of Futurism. The main characters are defined by the name, but the spatially central figure is the naked Eve. Associative rows (the train running like across the horizon of the globe, domes of temples, a black rooster and a black boot in the foreground, a village, a peasant in a white apron going somewhere, etc.) show all the diversity of the world and human life. The decorative flowers and the white butterfly, a carefully highlighted shining apple on a conditionally painted tree (Eve has extended her hand to it, but has not plucked it yet) also attract the attention of the viewer, who is trying to put together the puzzles of all the plot lines of the picture.
