Creating his works, Lichtenstein wanted them to look as if they were printed. To do this, he used the methods of raster printing, in which large areas are filled not with a solid colour but with the help of small dots. The different sizes and densities of these points create a different intensity of the coating and help to achieve its uniformity. This method is also used in the painting “Sleeping Girl”, where there is practically nothing except the huge image of her head. Who this girl is and what happens in her life is unknown, so the viewer is given an opportunity to come up with a plot. This canvas is also known for the fact that it has become the most expensive work of Pop art. At an auction in 2012, it was sold for $ 44 million.
