The Kiss (Lichtenstein)

author

Roy Fox Lichtenstein

description

The Seattle Art Museum, the USA.

Oil on canvas.

Having rather limited artistic means at his disposal, Roy Lichtenstein could convey the emotions and atmosphere of the moment to the viewer. The faces of a man and a woman, shown in close-up, resemble a photograph painted in bright colours or a poster. However, there is no poster detachment or catchy defiance in the painting. The artist conveyed warm human feelings extremely subtly, with just a few graphic lines.
