description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Museum of Art (Philadelphia, the USA).

The painting marks the transition of the artist to a new style of painting, in which twisty and blurry lines are replaced by strict geometric designs, and the reddish-brown color scheme becomes more diverse and saturated. The plot of the work is a paradox and a riddle, since it is not entirely clear what the name of the painting hints at and why the author placed characters that are so unsuitable for each other in one room. This discrepancy is then aggravated by the fact that the figure of the woman looking out the window is depicted in a completely different style than the rooster and the room in which they are located. Her body seems to consist of multi-colored geometric shapes separated by thick black lines, while everything else is depicted in a picturesque manner with a soft transition of colors and smooth chiaroscuro.
