description

  1. The basis of the new building is formed by the ruins of the late Romanesque church of St. Columbus and the remains of buildings from different time periods of the long history of Cologne, which the architect was able to combine into one ensemble;
  2. For the organic unification of monuments of different eras – both architectural and exhibits, an emphatically laconic formal language was used;
  3. Great attention is paid to the specificity of the material and its tactile and visual properties;
  4. A special role is assigned to lighting, which is insufficient for a full examination of the exhibits, but at the same time gives the perception a special acuity.
