Locking Piece

author

Henry Spencer Moore

description

Mediums: bronze.
Location: Riverside Walk Gardens, Millbank (London, UK).

Locking Piece consists of two large connected elements that have an amorphous structure and smoothly flowing one into the other. Watching the sculpture from different angles, the viewer sees an object that looks like a children’s puzzle, the foot of an elephant, elements of the human body and natural landscape, and the hole in the middle of the sculpture makes it part of the surrounding landscape. Of course, this is one of the most abstract works of Henry Moore, which causes a wide variety of associations and comparisons. The artist himself spoke about his sculpture that its charm lies in the fact that it has a complex shape, because a simple and understandable work does not cause such vivid emotions and discussions and does not contain any mystery.
