description

Haas House (1990) is one of the major projects designed by Hollein, which largely reveals his love of historical stylization and rethinking. This five-story building is located in the center of Vienna and is the best example of postmodernism. The building, tied to an existing curvilinear structure, changes configuration due to the materials on the façade: metal molds and mirrors. Hans Hollein had a passion for using columns in his designs, but here we see fragmentation of materials, not columns. Haas Hause was originally designed as an office or commercial building with shops and offices, but is now used as a hotel.
