description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: private collection.

At the end of 1960s, the artist became interested in the theme of mythological and historical heroines, again using blue for original portraits. He created images of Judith, Semiramis, Lilith, Ophelia and many others. Among them is the image of the famous Queen Palmyra, who fought with Rome after the death of her husband. The heroine, who lived in the 3rd century, is dressed in lush, elegant military armor, armed with a sword and has a determined and even stern expression of a beautiful face. As usual, the master left the breast of a woman naked. The dark background with a low horizon is highlighted by the rising sun from below.
