Young fig posing for Leonardo da Vinci an Annunciation

author

Felix Labisse

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: Museum of Verviers (Belgium).

One art expert said about Labisse’s paintings, “If you keep your eyes open, then clouds and forests, flames and smoke will take the shape of their flesh. Seeds, flowers and ripe flowers will reveal their intimate secrets to you”. In this picture, the name of which appeals to great Leonardo, the artist used the compositional construction of the High Renaissance master, carefully depicting female body; not only she poses, but also the fruit that opens its core. The still green plant is “accompanied” by red drapery with its folds. The picture is also called the “Annunciation”.
