The summer of 1943 was the happiest and most fruitful for the artist. Soon after his marriage, Gorky spent time in Virginia, where the local nature inspired him to create a series of surreal landscapes filled with the light and joy of life. The waterfall magnificent in its strength and beauty, which he saw there, vividly reminded the artist of the nature of his native Armenia. The painting “Waterfall” became one of the brightest creations of the artist, impressing you with its energy and wholly revealing the extraordinary style of Arshile Gorky.
